MEDIA RELEASE
ART and convention partner, City of Ballarat, is pleased to announce that Ballarat, Victoria will be hosting the 2022 Australian Regional Tourism Convention to be held 10-12 October 2022.
In addition to the 2022 Convention, Australian Regional Tourism (ART) will be hosting the Agritourism Conference, a one-off event bringing together the agricultural and tourism sectors to unearth the authentic stories of regional Australia, and engage in discussions that seek to influence policy and drive regulatory change for the development of agritourism. The Agritourism Conference will be held on Thursday 13th October 2022, also in Ballarat. Delegates who register for the Australian Regional Tourism Convention prior to June 30 will receive a heavily discounted ticket to the Agritourism Conference.
“Ballarat is thrilled to be able to finally host the Australian Regional Tourism Convention in 2022. The City of Ballarat and our tourism partners are leaders in regional tourism and we relish the opportunity to show the great work being done in our region to inspire other tourism providers.” City of Ballarat Mayor, Cr Daniel Moloney said.
A must-attend event for local councils, regional tourism organisations, tourism professionals and businesses, and government personnel wanting to contribute to the future of regional tourism in Australia, the ART Convention has the theme ‘Regional Australia – Paving the way for a stronger Visitor Economy’.
After postponing this as an in-person event following COVID-19 restrictions, ART and City of Ballarat are excited to host the in-person event this year, providing the opportunity to highlight the valuable work being delivered in the tourism sector and the growing number of local entrepreneurial operators in the region. This event will showcase Ballarat as a tourist and conference destination.
“It’s been three years in the making and we cannot wait for the 2022 Convention to happen in-person this year. After all we have experienced these last couple of years, it’s time to come together in person and feel connected again.” said Coralie Bell, ART Chair.
“The City of Ballarat is an ideal location for a vibrant and inspiring convention following on from rapid growth. Ballarat offers amazing visitor experiences,” continued Ms Bell.
Considered the most significant annual event for anyone engaged in regional tourism, the convention provides delegates the opportunity to connect, share ideas and engage in robust discussions around the opportunities and challenges being faced by the industry.
Convention registrations open today and there will be a very exciting famil program to showcase the Ballarat region announced soon.
