Kylie is an experienced tourism and indigenous engagement specialist with over 25 years in the visitor sector, excelling in both private and public roles. As the Managing Director of TRC, she brings extensive knowledge in indigenous tourism development, trade marketing, destination management, experience development, stakeholder relationship management, and small business management.
Kylie has strong governance skills, having served as a board member of Dunedin Host multiple times, including a four-year tenure as Chair. She excels in building and maintaining relationships, resulting in broad industry contacts in Aotearoa New Zealand, Australia, and global markets. Passionate about values-based tourism, especially Indigenous experiences, Kylie has collaborated with multiple iwi and hapū groups in the past three years, helping them unlock tourism’s economic potential.
Recognising the Māori connection to the natural world, she developed consultation methods to capture the ethos of regeneration and resilience, integrating these principles into strategic plans. Kylie leads the Indigenous Ways forum under World Trails, assisting indigenous communities worldwide in developing trail networks and frameworks for purposeful engagement and storytelling.
Kylie owns an award-winning whānau tourism business, Horizon Tours, offering a Māori cultural lens on the natural world, earning the Westpac Māori Business of the Year in 2020.
