About the Tourism Department
This department is part of our Investment & Attraction Division, and is responsible for growing and supporting the visitor economy through partnership, industry leadership, promotion and development. We seek to have Greater Geelong and The Bellarine recognised as a global destination that delivers world standard visitor experiences.
About the Role
Reporting to the Director Investment & Attraction, this role is pivotal in providing leadership across the region to drive outcomes in the visitor economy and position the region as a distinctive and competitive tourism destination.This key role leads a team of professionals to increase both visitor numbers and visitor yield in a sector of the economy that is vital to the region. Reporting to both an industry board and to Council, this role will be responsible for the development and implementation of Tourism Development Plan and performance of the organisation.
Critical to this role is the development of partnerships to increase industry participation in, and membership of, the organisation and the development and enhancement of the partnerships between municipal members and the tourism industry.
The Executive Director will also be a strong advocate for key infrastructure and services to support and grow the tourism potential of the region.
The role will also seek to maximise the effective and efficient use of financial and human resources by conducting the business of Tourism Greater Geelong & The Bellarine Inc. in accordance with professional principles of an Incorporated Association.
It should be noted that the Executive Director of the Regional Tourism Board, Tourism Greater Geelong & The Bellarine Inc. is also the Tourism Manager for the City of Greater Geelong.
