National Sell Regional Program for Regional Visitor Information centres
NATIONAL SELL REGIONAL PROGRAM FOR REGIONAL VISITOR INFORMATION CENTRES
Building additional revenue, memorable visitor experiences and a forward-thinking visitor servicing model. In 2018 Kiikstart conducted a survey with accredited visitor information centres to identify areas of additional development that would make a real difference to visitation, the overall quality of experience and the level of revenue that could be generated. In particular we were interested in how we could build stronger relationships between VIC’s VIO’s and their local producers, suppliers and artisans to create an offering that resulted in increased length of stay and overall spend.
Key survey comments in terms of areas for further development and growth included:
– Changing up the mix of retail and experiences so it remained relevant now and into the future.
– Being able to tell a local, interesting story that connects with guests.
– Creating spaces not just about brochures and the giving out of information
– Potential opportunities – how to generate product and services and how to deliver them in future.
– Working closer with our local businesses and operators to provide unique and quality retail product mix and regional services.
– Sales skills – both in retail and experiential terms.
We have done our homework and reflected on our extensive work with VIC’s across regional SA within this area. As such we have designed a national program for VIC Management and their teams that want to explore the real opportunities that are generated from reviewing and evolving their current retail and services mix – and in turn be leaders and pace setters.
Key areas of focus include:
– Building Management skill and talent within the area of regional partnerships and collaboration
– How to successfully execute real outcomes in these areas.
– Working closely with other VIC’s and VIO’s in the region to leverage future opportunities as a collective- rather than doing it alone.
– Developing the values, processes and resources needed to identify the right type of producers, artisans and suppliers for the best outcomes.
– Developing greater use of space and retail mix that can generate more income while showcasing existing and emerging producers, suppliers and artisans.
– Creating a unique and quality retail mix that appeals to residents and the visiting family and friends’ market and was seen as the first stop for buying quality and unique gifts.
– Generating an additional stream of revenue that did not previously exist.
– Delivering a space that the community can be part of and showcase their talents.
– Create a merchandising approach and team story telling approach that effectively sells and best represents the destination’s brand personality and values.
While we have a more detailed proposal on hand, and are happy to share some real case studies, please feel free to have a casual conversation with us about your plans for 2019 and to see how and if this opportunity can be part of it.
