Position Vacant: Assistant Tourism Manager
Part-Time (15 hours per week / fixed-term contract)
Cowra Tourism Corporation is looking for an Assistant Manager to join our small team based at the Cowra Visitor Information Centre. This part-time role will see the applicant primarily working Thursday and Friday 9-5pm.
The primary function of the role is to work alongside the Tourism Manager across the key business units of Cowra Tourism Corporation including; the operation of the Cowra Visitor Information Centre, event management and destination marketing.
This role is suited to a self-regulated, enthusiastic, professional that shines in a dynamic and fast-paced workplace. The ability to multi-task, think on your feet and prioritise whilst maintaining our high standard of customer service to visitors and stakeholders is a must!
The role is based at the Cowra Visitor Information Centre and will require the applicant to manage their administrative tasks whilst working in a customer-facing environment.
The applicant will be required to oversee the operation of the Visitor Centre ensuring that they and our team provide professional, friendly, accurate information to visitors and locals alike, reach retail sales targets, manage inventory and perform administrative tasks.
The Cowra Visitor Information Centre is managed by Cowra Tourism Corporation, a not for profit corporation which is the lead agency for delivering visitor services and destination marketing for the region. The centre incorporates the POW hologram and display, community exhibition space and a retail area showcasing local souvenirs, food and wine.
Selection Criteria
- A passion for all things Cowra!
- Demonstrated experience in retail, hospitality, event management or related field (preferably in a supervisory role)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, retail management systems (preferably VEND) and social media marketing platforms.
- Sufficient understanding & willingness to achieve the necessary Cowra Tourism Corporation objectives and develop high levels of member & stakeholder satisfaction.
- Willingness to work both as part of a small team and autonomously.
- Available to work the set hours with the ability to work additional hours including weekends and public holidays where required.
- A current NSW drivers’ licence & own vehicle.
- You must hold a current responsible service of alcohol accreditation.
To succeed in this role, you’ll need to be a self-starter, have loads of initiative, be a ‘people person’ with a sense of humour, have a positive outlook and, be a team player.
