    About the business

    Tourism Top End is the peak tourism organisation for the Northern Territory and Northern Australia. As a not-for-profit, membership-based NGO Tourism Top End is responsible for regional destination development, marketing and advocacy, we promote the region for both leisure and business.

    Tourism Top End is the regional tourism association serving the area known as the ‘Top End’ in the NorthernTerritory. This area includes the Cities of Darwin and Palmerston, World Heritage Listed Kakadu National Park, Katherine region including Nitmiluk National Park, Douglas Daly Region, Arnhem Land, Litchfield National Park and the Tiwi Islands. The organisation’s official boundaries are north of Elliot to the Queensland and Western Australian borders and south to the Katherine area.

    Tourism Top End’s role is to represent the views of the tourism industry and lobby local and Territory Government on behalf of its members. To work in close co-operation with City of Darwin, Tourism NT, NT Regional Tourism Association’s and other tourism organisations. To keep its members fully informed on matters affecting tourism via meetings, newsletters and other correspondence. To actively promote the Top End as a premium tourism destination at selected tourism consumer shows in Australia, through consumer marketing and online to encourage dispersal of visitors from Darwin. To supply visitor information and sell member’s product from its ideally located VIC location and through online capabilities. To promote dispersal of visitors across the entire Top End region.

    Tourism Top End is also responsible for the management of National industry development programs Australian Tourism Accreditation Program (ATAP NT) and Star Ratings. The Australian Tourism Accreditation Program (ATAP) is a business development program that is based on Quality Assurance principles. The Program addresses many of the issues that are covered in the development of a business plan but focuses on those key elements that are part of the day to day function of any tourism operation. This is achieved by the development of professional management systems that will lead to reliability, consistency and predictability in the operation of the business which in turn results in improved customer service and satisfaction.

    About the role

    As the Marketing and Administration Coordinator, you will be self-motivated and agile, undertaking the consumer and membership marketing duties along with assisting with the administrative needs of the General Manager and Marketing Manager..

    The duties of this position will be within the following parameters:

    • Coordinate Marketing and Communication Services
    • Assistant to the Marketing Manager
    • Administrative support to the General Manager

    Skills and experience

    1. Enthusiasm, motivation and commitment to encourage and represent the Top End region in marketing activities and promotions
    2. Sound knowledge of the Northern Territory Tourism Industry
    3. Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
    4. Have an understanding of traditional, digital and social media marketing
    5. Demonstrated ability to undertake a wide range of projects simultaneously and deliver outcomes within a designated time frame and within a changing environment
    6. Able to work in both an unsupervised and busy office environment
    7. Computer literacy, with an understanding of desktop publishing, spreadsheets, word processing, database management and web based technology
