    Reporting directly to the Executive Director Marketing with respect to broad priorities, goals, performance expectations and evaluation of key milestones and outcomes the Senior Marketing Manager is responsible and accountable for leading all aspects of the company’s marketing strategy in collaboration with the organisations Executive Director Marketing and other key internal and external stakeholders.

    As the organisations new Senior Marketing Manager you will be the centre piece for all traditional and digital marketing work, you will not only liaise with internal clients to define requirements but create structure, process of all workflow and ensure 100% delivery of all internal and external client request.

    You should have in-depth marketing experience spanning at least 5 + years and an intimate knowledge of digital technologies. You have the skills to provide forward-thinking ideas to build and maintain a strong presence aligned with achieving our organisational objectives. An energetic self-starter, you will constantly challenge yourself, your people and the status quo. You will possess excellent communication and strong leadership skills and the ability to educate all aspects of a ‘Digital First’ strategy to key stakeholders both internal and external.

    DGC’s Senior Marketing Director has three (3) direct reports, based on existing organisational requirements, which can and do change from time-to-time. Drawing on their superior leadership and project management skill together with their understanding of the tourism industry, the Senior Marketing Manager will lead a multidisciplinary team to implement, measure and report on each of the organisation’s digital, brand and content marketing initiatives outlined in the organisation’s digital marketing strategy.

    Essential Skills and Experience

    • A minimum 5+ years’ senior marketing and communications roles, including solid hands on experience in leading and developing an integrated marketing team.
    • Strong understanding of how all current marketing channels function.
    • Educated to a degree level (minimum), ideally with a marketing qualification.
    • Strong communication, organisational, presentation, analytical, critical reasoning, and editing skills are essential.
    • Ability to provide strong leadership whilst continuously striving for collaborative working with cross functioning teams. Making sure that the team are supporting each other with workload to avoid burnouts and create a seamless work structure.
    • Proven project management skills including effective communication to all project stakeholders.
    • Expertise managing a significant budget is required.
    • Exceptional verbal and written communication and stakeholder management skills, with a strong ability to build and nurture beneficial relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
    • High emotional intelligence in being able to effectively embed a corporate performance culture which encourages 360-degree feedback and support.
    • Experience in the national and international tourism (or similar) marketplace will be highly regarded.
    • High level computer literacy in MS Office suite is expected.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Develop and grows a team that fosters innovation and creativity.
    • Implement the organisations marketing strategy in line with the organisation’s core objectives, and in consultation with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Provide leadership for the team to come up with new marketing strategies (digital or offline) that are aligned with the business goals.
    • Contribute to integrated campaign planning, budgeting, metrics and reporting, including sole responsibility for the Marketing Unit’s deliverables.
    • Utilise critical market and competitor research to segment and define target markets, refine and improve the positioning proposition and implement the best market-penetration strategies into key target markets.
    • Continually optimise spend and performance based on insights.
    • Become a key driver of the company’s future growth through evangelizing new innovations in both offline and digital marketing.
    • Liaise, collaborate and influence marketing team leads and empower them to effectively position the company’s products and solutions and differentiate their offerings from the competition whilst also provide cohesive strategic delivery of same.

    DGC is a not-for-profit membership based, destination marketing organisation structured to promote the city as a leisure and business event destination through global consumer, trade, media and travel industry channels.

    We represent a membership base of more than 500 accommodation venues, theme parks and attractions, tour operators, restaurants and cafes, entertainment venues, transport providers and professional support services. Furthermore, we work on behalf of over 27,000 commercial businesses which contribute to our operation through a tourism levy.
