As part of a state-wide coordinated education program, the local Discovery Guide delivers local Discovery interpretive activities of guided tours and talks which fosters community awareness, appreciation and understanding for conserving the state’s natural and cultural heritage, and the role of the Department of Planning, Industry & Environment and the National Parks and Wildlife Service. The role also supports & promotes positive relations with local Aboriginal communities.Wombeyan and Abercrombie KCRs are located in remote areas with minimal access to external contractors and service providers. Much of the reserve maintenance is undertaken by NPWS employees and therefore the following site-specific duties may be requested of on-duty Discovery Guides:
• Undertake cleaning/hygiene duties of visitor facilities, guest accommodation, visitor’s centre and kiosk where required.
• Maintenance of picnic areas, gardens and lawns
• Assistance with cave infrastructure maintenance and cleaning.
• Kiosk duties including preparation of hot beverages, food service, telephone enquires
• Assisting Field Officers with other manual handling tasks as requested.Applications Close: Sunday, 23 May 2021, 11:55pm
