- Annualised Band 5 ($75,793 – $86,521 + super)
An opportunity exists for a confident and engaging Event Support Officer to join the Events Unit forming part of the Community Wellbeing Division.
We are seeking a committed individual who can work cooperatively and positively to support the Events Unit in the development, delivery and promotion of a diverse range of events for Ballarat.
Reporting to the Events Manager applicants should be able to demonstrate experience of;
- Event coordination of high-quality safe events including developing traffic management, risk management and engagement of suppliers, contractors and entertainers.
- oordination and implementation of marketing and promotional activities.
- Ability to provide high level customer service, regulatory guidance and other general information to internal and external event and community stakeholders.
You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, coupled with an excellent work ethic and an ability to work flexible hours including after hours and on weekends and undertake some physical work (e.g. setting up equipment required at events).
This role is a Permanent Full Time Band 5 position. Please note out of hours work will be required.
Key Selection Criteria
- Qualifications and/or experience in event management, or related industry.
- Demonstrated skills and experience in the development and implementation of traffic management plans, site plans, emergency management plans, contracting of performers and service providers, and an understanding of relevant OHS, building, environmental and APRA regulations.
- Experience in working with voluntary and professional event organisers and a demonstrated understanding of the local, state and federal agencies associated with the events industry.
- Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work as a part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Ability to achieve set goals in strict timeframes whilst operating with flexibility and adapting to changing circumstances.
- Experience with budgetary and other relevant accounting and financial procedures.
- Experience in developing and implementing marketing and promotional plans including the management of social media platforms.
- Advanced word processing, database, excel, email skills. Desktop publishing and internet/web experience would be advantageous.
