  Greater Shepparton City Council’s Economic Development Department is seeking a highly motivated, organised, and passionate person to take on the exciting role of Team Leader Visitor Economy.

  The successful applicant will oversee a dynamic Visitor Economy team including two direct reports which include the Visitor Experience Coordinator and Visitor Economy Digital and Development Officer.

  The Team Leader Visitor Economy will play a crucial role in working with industry to position and develop Greater Shepparton as a key regional tourism destination in line with national, state and regional strategy priorities and key market segments to create economic growth, jobs, visitation and yield.

  Guided by the Economic Development, Tourism and Major Events Strategy the visitor economy program in Greater Shepparton is growing with some new game changing visitor experience projects recently completed such as the $49 million Shepparton Art Museum (SAM) and Museum of Vehicle Evolution (MOVE) along with a number of other major initiatives underway helping shape the region as a rising major visitor destination. The region is now servicing in excess of 1 million visitors a year (2019 pre Covid-19) and this has been growing steadily over the last decade.

  The region is currently embarking on a new destination brand project and we are seeking an experienced, talented and motivated individual to work collaboratively with industry to grow the regions identity, develop innovative digital and marketing plans, campaigns, activities and activation’s as well as grow and enhance the regions visitor product.

  This position will also play a critical role in the development and implementation of Covid-19 economic response visitor economy initiatives to support business and industry during recovery and future activation.

  This role also oversees effective operation of the new Greater Shepparton Visitor Centre which is now part of the Shepparton Art Museum precinct and management of the iconic Moooving art herd.

  The Team Leader Visitor Economy will have a can do attitude, ability to think strategically, mentor, coach and develop staff, build strong authentic relationships and partnerships with local business and industry, regional tourism bodies and government.
