    POSITION OVERVIEW:

    Are you ready to play a pivotal role in driving economic growth in one of Queensland’s most diverse and captivating regions? MBRIT is seeking a Trade and Industry Development Manager to lead the charge in fostering stakeholder engagement and advancing the economic development of the Moreton Bay region. This role focuses on building and maintaining relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, supporting local businesses, and ensuring the region’s active participation in key tourism platforms.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Stakeholder Engagement and Management

    • Cultivate and maintain relationships with stakeholders in the tourism, hospitality, agricultural, and arts/cultural sectors.
    • Effectively engage with local businesses, leaders, business chambers, industry associations, community groups, and government departments.
    • Maintain strong relationships with Brisbane Economic Development Agency’s tourism team, Tourism Australia’s stakeholder team, and key members of Tourism and Events Queensland.

    Partnership Building

    • Collaborate with First Nations people, including Traditional Owners, business owners, and community members, to support their participation in economic development.
    • Seek opportunities to curate tourism experiences in collaboration with diverse stakeholders.
    • Identify and apply for grants to further grow and enhance the Moreton Bay region.
    • Write award applications to enhance the region’s reputation as a holiday destination.

    Capacity and Capability Development

    • Develop and deliver programs to enhance the tourism sector’s capacity and capabilities, ensuring alignment with the destination promise and the trade-ready journey.
    • Assist major event organizers in connecting with local industry sectors.
    • Deliver mentoring and training for operators across key delivery areas.
    • Promote industry participation and growth in key programs.

    Trade and Wholesale Relationships

    • Develop relationships with trade and wholesale partners, presenting commissionable opportunities within the region.
    • Support tourism operators in becoming trade-ready and facilitate connections with trade partners.
    • Deliver trade training to enhance understanding and awareness of the Moreton Bay region.
    • Create trade training tools for distribution through follow-up or the online trade center.

    Networking and Representation

    • Attend industry and community networking events to build recognition for MBRIT and Visit Moreton Bay.
    • Represent the region at industry conferences and trade events.

    Budgeting & Reporting

    • Lead reporting for Destination Management and Development in the monthly MBRIT report and quarterly ATSAP.
    • Ensure budgets are up to date, on track, timely, and free of surprises.
    • Capture and promote notable moments across MBRIT’s social media assets.
    • Ensure regular updates and information distribution via the MBRIT corporate database.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
    • Proven experience in stakeholder engagement, partnership development, and relationship management.
    • Knowledge of tourism, hospitality, agriculture, and arts/cultural sectors.
    • Cultural competence and experience working with First Nations communities is highly desirable.
    • Excellent communication, presentation, and networking skills.
