Federal Government Release Tourism Report

Australian Regional Tourism (ART) has made significant strides in advocating for the unique challenges facing regional destinations. After successfully influencing the THRIVE 2030 strategy to include regional targets, ART’s voice has been echoed in the latest Australian Government Tourism Report. This recognition is a testament to ART’s persistent efforts to ensure that regional tourism receives the attention it deserves.

We are pleased to note that all points contained in ART’s submission, and recent advocacy, have been picked up and included in the report’s recommendations. We are hopeful that some of these recommendations will be carried into policy outcomes, or commitments, in the upcoming election.

Despite this progress, challenges remain. ART is committed to collaborating with government and industry partners to navigate these issues and ensure the right policy environment exists to enable regions to thrive by building strong, vibrant and resilient communities.

Shortly, we’ll be releasing our revised set of national regional tourism priorities that will form the basis of ART’s advocacy strategy for the coming 12-months, and into the next Federal election period.

Our advocacy over the next 12-months is more critical than ever. We must ensure that tourism policy meets the needs of our regions and doesn’t become too city centric.

Our work in the advocacy space can only be done with the ongoing support of our members. If you are not a financial ART member, you can sign up online here, or if you would like to discuss, please don’t hesitate to give me a call.
