Topic – How events can attract corporate revenue

    —–

Events can generate income in numerous ways, and some have more options than others – bars, merch, tickets, council support…even then, the costs involved in staging an event can make breaking even or turning a profit challenging.

Yes, the events sector is fragile at the moment, but it also has a bright future, people will be hungry to get out and enjoy all we have to offer, so while sponsorship may not be top of mind right now, it needs to be, as it will play a key role in building financial resilience as we recover from COVID-19.

In AREA’s next event sector bounce back chat we will be joined by Mark Edney, Head of Sponsorship at Traffik. Mark has worked with some of Australia’s most known brands, from Ikea to CUB, on brand-led sponsorships and activations.

Here’s a few things we’d like to chat about with Mark and all of you who can join us.

    • How can our industry work together to get sponsorship in the marketing mix of corporate businesses?
    • What are the key areas events should focus on for their best chance at sponsorship success?
    • What do we need to include in our proposals? What proposals have made you think *wow* and for what reason?
    • Do standard sponsorship packages work? Is cold calling worth our time?
    • Should councils seek corporate sponsorship for their events?
    • How can we leverage our existing partnerships?
    • Are long-term agreements a thing of the past?
    • Some businesses have done very well out of COVID-19, is there now a social and community responsibility to help the event sector out through sponsorship?
    • How can we best communicate the value of our time in delivering the benefits to the sponsor?

We’d love you to pop any other ideas and questions in the comments.

This one’s going to be a ripper and we look forward to those in the event sector joining us. Ness
