SPEAKER SPOTLIGHT | Marcus Falconer
Topic: Building tourism communities
Marcus Falconer has been the CEO of WA regional tourism organisation Australia’s Golden Outback since 2017, overseeing its transition from a purely destination marketing remit to a broader destination management approach, implementing targeted destination development initiatives to facilitate the implementation of local tourism strategies, product development and capability building.
Previously, Marcus was Partnership Manager at Tourism Western Australia for six years and Group Marketing Manager at Margaret River Busselton Tourism Association as.
Prior to arriving in Australia in 2011, Marcus’s first foray into the tourism industry, following a brand and advertising agency background, was Head of Marketing at Go Ape, which at the time was a small treetop adventure business in the UK with five courses. Fast forward four years and sixteen more courses, Go Ape had established itself as one the UK’s most successful attractions and Marcus’s passion for tourism was well and truly lit.

Now leading, probably, the largest sized RTO by area in the world, Marcus is driven by fostering collaborations to deliver the best destination outcomes for the region and their communities.
