    Department: Economic Development and Tourism

    Reports to: Manager Economic Development and Tourism

    Salary Range: $34.18 – $39.02 (including casual loading) + super

    Purpose of the Position

    This is a casual front line customer service position, engaging with visitors to the shire. The position is located in the Coonabarabran Visitor Information Centre (VIC), which is the promotional arm of Council. The VIC team is responsible for increasing visitor arrival numbers and length of stay within Warrumbungle Shire.

    Essential Requirements

    • Commitment to Council’s Mission, Values and Code of Conduct
    • Understanding of work health and safety (WHS) in the workplace and commitment to a positive contribution to WHS in the workplace and compliance with Council and legislative requirements
    • Sound knowledge of the Warrumbungle Shire area, attractions, tourism operators and businesses as well as current events, particularly those affecting the shire and its surrounding areas
    • High level interpersonal and communications skills
    • Demonstrated administration skills including but not limited to word processing, data entry, desktop publishing, internet and social media and record keeping
    • Demonstrated experience and competence in:
      1. Cash handling and reconciliation of funds daily and weekly
      2. Purchasing and procurement of stock and materials
      3. Stock control and stocktaking.
    • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team
    • Class C NSW Drivers Licence

    Desirable Requirements

    • Experience in setting up exhibitions and displaying works
    • Qualifications in Tourism, Customer Service or other relevant field
