Lake Macquarie City Council is seeking a Cultural Experiences Officer to join the Arts, Culture & Tourism (ACT) team. The Cultural Experiences Officer works closely to support the team at our newest arts space – Multi-Art Pavilion | mima (MAP) located in Speers Point, NSW. MAP | mima is a purpose-built contemporary space, architecturally designed for multi-media arts. Reporting to the MAP | mima Curator, the Cultural Experience Officer assists with delivering contemporary and progressive cultural-based programming, including music, arts, technology and heritage, to involve and engage our diverse community in events and experiences. The role also provides high quality customer service support and actively engages with visitors and staff to support the delivery of daily operations and services.
There is also opportunity for this role to support the teams within our galleries, theatres, libraries and museums across the region. This position will be required to work a flexible roster with regular weekend work and shifts spaning from Monday through to Sunday; 8.00am to 9.00pm, across our multiple facilities.

We are seeking an enthusiastic people-person who enjoys working with a diverse range of audiences and technology, while delivering exceptional customer service support within a dynamic environment. Our ideal candidate will have a strong passion for creativity, great problem-solving skills, and an adaptive approach to supporting various programs, events and initiatives that inspire, attract and engage our community supported by experience in this space and preferably a related qualification. We’re looking for a creative thinker who is interested in a range of art activities and mediums, is comfortable working with new technology, and knows how to make events happen. This all-rounder position is an excellent opportunity to expand and develop your contemporary art, technical operations and event producing skills.
This role requires a Class C drivers licence, valid Working with Children Check for paid employment as well as a significant experience and/or qualification related to the role such as Certificate III in Arts Administration, Library & Information Studies or Customer Service.
