The Derwent Valley is a stunning diverse location just 30 minutes from Hobart and includes New Norfolk and surrounds through to spectacular world heritage wilderness areas.
We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic individual to fill the position of Economic Development Project Officer.
You will be responsible for assisting the Community and Economic Development team in building and promoting strong business, tourism and economic networks and collaborative strategic partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
You will be responsible for duties such as:
- Assisting in the development and implementation of strategic programs, projects and events to deliver economic outcomes that align with the Council’s Strategic Plan;
- Supporting the development and implementation of new strategies, programs, projects, services and events that are aligned with Council’s strategic goals and direction;
- Providing assistance regarding community engagement methods, strategies and measurement, in collaboration with the Community Development Officer and Communications Officer; and
- Coordinating the development and successful execution of regional tourism and community events as relevant to the position, to optimise attendance, cultural, social, visitor and economic benefits.
To be successful you will have:
- Well-developed stakeholder engagement and community engagement skills.
- An understanding of the planning, management and delivery of events and activities that trigger economic development outcomes.
- Well-developed written and oral communication skills with some experience related to the preparation of strategies, public policies, reports, briefing papers, visual presentations and correspondence.
- An understanding of grant programs and the preparation of funding submissions and acquittals.
