Events Venues and Business Events Coordinator
Greater Shepparton City Council’s Economic Development Department is seeking a highly motivated, organised and passionate person to take on the exciting role of Coordinator Events Venues and Business Events.
The events program in Greater Shepparton is quickly becoming a key economic pillar of the destination. This role plays a crucial leadership role within the major events team in helping build the region’s reputation as a major event destination in regional Victoria and Australia.
The major events program covers a diverse range of events highlighting a major events calendar that is full of fun and festivity all year round across arts, culture, sporting, business, multicultural, equestrian, music, food, indigenous, lifestyle, civic and community events.
Pre covid-19 the region was seeing in excess of 300,000 attendees at over 300 events with over 130,000 visitors from outside the region generating in excess of $40 million in economic stimulation to our community annually, with the event venues team playing a crucial strategic role in increasing visitation and developing economic growth to the region.
The Coordinator Events Venues and Business Events role plays an integral role in managing the region’s iconic event locations including the Shepparton Showgrounds, Tatura Park Exhibition and Event Complex and Victoria Park Lake event spaces along with the region’s business events attraction program. Major annual events held across these venues include International Dairy Week, Spring Car Nationals, Land of Plenty Music Festival, Goulburn Valley Country Music Festival, Shepparton Show, Challenge Shepparton International Triathlon, Shepparton Festival and Converge on the Goulburn Festival just to name a few.
This role includes the coordination of the event venues including client liaison, budget management, booking management, asset and equipment management, implementation of the venues’ business and marketing plans, key event venue account management coordination, representation on various venue advisory committees, liaising with contractors and suppliers to ensure facilities are appropriately maintained and presented at a high standard to host major events. The role also works closely with the Team Leader Major Events on strategic planning including future major events attraction, venue master planning, future business and marketing plans and capital works programs. The role supervises and has the support of the Event Venue Bookings and Support Officer.
This role also plays a key role in the coordination, attraction and delivery of the region’s business events attraction program (across meetings, incentives, conferences, exhibitions and agri business) to drive promotion, business development and economic development to the region’s business event venues.
