Duties
- Provide credible, high level expertise and strategic advice on complex matters relating to community and regional economic development initiatives of government in Northern Tasmania including advice on strategies, policy, priorities and operations for client service and agency program delivery. Successfully manage high level and sensitive stakeholder interactions, including complex projects, regional economic stimulus strategies, and policy evaluation.
- Represent the agency at a senior level of engagement in the Northern region. Work in partnership with other State Growth business units across the State and with other tiers of government, to ensure the effective coordination of regional economic development activities. This includes representing the department in the private and public sectors including State, Commonwealth and Local Government committees and panels. In the North this will have a particular focus on supporting the Advanced Manufacturing and Food and Agribusiness sectors as well as the Trade team.
- Maintain a strong network with key stakeholders within the region. Undertake high level liaison, negotiation and consultation with relevant key stakeholders including Commonwealth, State and Local Government agencies and on enterprise and project related development issues.
- Proactively gather regional intelligence and capture regional opportunities to drive economic growth, job creation, local capability and social amenity.
- Facilitate and assist industry with interaction with other agencies and levels of government.
- Prepare a diverse range of written documentation including correspondence, board papers submissions, ministerial briefings, reports and plans, and present material as required.
- Contribute substantially to corporate planning, policy and procedure development of the Business Growth team, including input into the preparation and administration of delegated budgets on approved programs and projects; and supervise workflows for regional coordination as directed.
