    About the position:

    The City is seeking a Senior Events & Venues Officer who will play a key role in the planning, promotion and implementation of community, signature and civic events. The position will ensure that events within the City of Greater Geraldton contribute towards creating a vibrant, inclusive and innovative community. The Senior Events & Venues Officer may at times oversee staff, casuals, volunteers and contractors in the conduct of the City’s events. Additionally, this position will be responsible for overseeing the event approval process, activation of City grounds and facilities as well as the booking of City venues.

    Key accountabilities:

    • Provide a level of senior experience to the City’s events roles to ensure the delivery of high quality planning, preparation and implementation of annual Civic events, Signature and civic events across the City of Greater Geraldton.
    • Ensure events are delivered to the highest standard and in accordance with legislation requirements. Identify and apply for funding and sponsorship opportunities, in conjunction with the team and Coordinator, and produce high quality reports that respond to donor requirements.
    • Ensure the activation of key City venues including the Geraldton Multipurpose Centre through embedding processes and systems to promote these venues for hire.
    • Develop and execute the City’s calendar of events in accordance with the Community Strategic Plan.
    • Liaise with external and internal stakeholders to encourage and facilitate a wide range of quality events in Geraldton in accordance with the City’s Events Strategy.

    Position requirements:
    The successful applicant will ideally have a degree in Events Management or Hospitality and relevant experience or lesser qualification with significant experience. The successful applicant will be a strong and collegiate team player who can prioritise in an environment of competing demands and deliver to timelines. Additionally, the position requires comprehensive knowledge of managing a budget, comprehensive experience in developing and overseeing an event risk management plan and strong time management skills.

    Completion of a pre-employment medical including alcohol and other substances testing is required of all positions at the City.

    Remuneration and benefits:
    A salary starting from $74,739 per annum or $37.82 per hour will be offered dependent on knowledge, skills, experience and qualifications.
