Position Vacant: Tourism Information Officer
The Shire of Carnarvon has a challenging and rewarding career opportunity for a Tourist Information Officer for the Carnarvon Visitor Information Centre. We are seeking a self-motivated and enthusiastic person with a commitment to the provision of high-quality customer service to both internal and external stakeholders.
The primary function of this position is to provide a professional, efficient and customer focus tourist information service and provide administrative support related to the Centre’s requirements.
Applicants will need to be energetic, possess a demonstrated strong customer focus and advanced computer and organisational skills, and a willingness to be part of a small, busy team. Experience in the retail industry, and money handling along with stock monitoring/ordering would be desirable.
Reporting to the Tourism Manager; the key objectives for the role will see you responsible for, but not limited to:
- To assist in the delivery of high levels of customer service for visitors, local business, and the community within the Gascoyne region in a high-volume work environment.
- Demonstrated ability to actively sell services and products in a professional and courteous manner.
- To provide professional and skilled administration support as part of the day-to-day operation of the Centre. Responsible for purchasing and monitoring of goods, for the retail component of the Centre including merchandise display and placement.
- Competent with handling of money.
A cash component between $48,880.00 to $51,940.35 (excl. of superannuation) will be offered to the successful candidate dependent on their qualifications and experience, together with additional benefits including;
- 5 weeks annual leave per annum
- 76 Hours a fortnight (with the option of flexible work arrangements) District Allowance as per Council Policies
- Housing Subsidy as per Council Policies
