Tourism Manager: Diamantina Shire Council
As a Tourism Manager, your responsibility would be to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of all aspects of Council’s tourism team, actively working towards the achievement of operational and corporate planning objectives including the initiation, implementation and delivery of all shire tourism strategies as directed by Council.
This position is based in Birdsville. The Diamantina Shire holds many acclaimed tourist events that turn the town population from 100 to 10,000 for a few weeks of the year. Some of our most popular events include the famous Birdsville Races, the Big Red Bash, and much more.
Birdsville is a small rural community in the western corridor of Queensland bordering Northern Territory and South Australia, Birdsville has fantastic modern facilities, including an aquatic centre, outback golf course, visitor information centre, 24/7 health services, primary school, sporting facilities, racetrack and twice weekly flights to/from Brisbane/Mt Isa. The total size of the Shire is almost 95,000 km2, which is larger than Tasmania and twice the size of Denmark! It is the second largest Local Government area in Queensland but yet has the second smallest population. The Diamantina Shire also includes the towns of Bedourie and Betoota.

This position is offered as a full-time permanent position with above award wages, monthly RDO and 6 weeks of annual leave. A comfortable home is available at heavily subsidised rent (approximately $160/week).
