I am the Executive Officer for Cycling and Walking Australia & NZ (CWANZ, http://www.cwanz.com.au) and I’m looking for research on walking tourism and walking in regional areas, and I was wondering if anyone here could help. There is evidence that cycling tourism brings extra money to regional areas, as people tend to stay longer and spend more. I assume the same applies to walking tourism, but I have not found any studies demonstrating this.

Does anyone here know of any studies/business cases that focus specifically on the benefits of walking tourism?
