      Shoalhaven City Councils tourism department are seeking an Investments & Events Specialist to join their dynamic team. This is a permanent, full-time position located in the Nowra Administration Building.

      The advertised salary is based on the grade of the position, comprising of 4 steps within the range shown. The starting salary is at Step 1 within the grade. Progression through the salary steps shall be based upon the achievement of performance objectives relating to the position.

      Duties

      Reporting directly to the Tourism Manager, the focus of this position is to:

      • Identify, source and secure sport, cultural, arts events and the MICE market.
      • Lead tourism investment attraction to the Shoalhaven eg major hotel development.
      • Identify ‘gaps’ in tourism offerings and assist in the growth of the region’s long term tourism market.
      • Development and ongoing implementation of a ‘whole of Council’ approach for attracting people to the region for tourism investment, relocation, business tourism and major events.
      • Develop key interaction with external agencies, State and Federal Government and local chambers, to ensure ‘whole of community’ approach is developed.
      • Assist and mentor local tourism business to support investment and growth in the region

      Skills & Experience

      In order to be successful in the position, you will be/ possess:

      • Degree in Tourism Management, Marketing, Business Administration or a related discipline or relevant past experience /knowledge.
      • Quality experience in destination management with a demonstrated understanding of current issues and trends in the tourism industry.
      • Demonstrated ability to foster collaboration and information exchange within and across work groups in the delivery of outcomes for the community.
      • Highly developed tourism investment and marketing skills.

      This position requires a current NSW Working with Children Check. Applicants are required to apply and pay for this check if not already obtained.
