Explore Ballarat

We encourage ARTC20 delegates to stay and explore more of Ballarat and the surrounding region before or after this year’s convention.

Just 75 minutes west of Melbourne, Ballarat is a melting pot of art, culture, food, wine and attractions set against an iconic heritage backdrop.

Pan for gold at Sovereign Hill, watch real life jousters at Kryal Castle, admire colonial masterpieces at the Art Gallery of Ballarat, and get up close and personal with cuddly animals at the Ballarat Wildlife Park. You won’t go hungry or thirsty in the Ballarat region either. Wander along the streets and laneways and you’ll come across some great cafes and restaurants. Throw down some local brews and wines and make a meal of it with regional produce and clever menus.

The Ballarat Information Centre is located in the historic Ballarat Town Hall in the heart of the CBD. It’s your one-stop shop for information when you arrive in Ballarat. Get the best local knowledge from the locals themselves, such as advice on attractions, accommodation, eateries and itineraries.

Visitor facilities include free visitor parking, public internet access, free Wi-Fi, mobile phone charging points, and an accessible unisex toilet with adult and baby change facility. Caravan and long vehicle parking is available in Bath Lane behind the Town Hall.
