Lauren McBriarty began her career in the community and leisure sector working in many managerial roles for Belgravia Leisure. In 2016 she commenced her study for an undergraduate degree. Over the course of 2016 – April 2018 Lauren completed a Bachelors in Business (Tourism Management) through Torrens University and an internship in Sri Lanka on destination management and hotel management. In June 2018 Lauren began her position as Business Development Officer at Tourism Central Australia, Alice Springs. She was involved in the sales and development of the ‘Do The Red Centre Monopoly Board’, Top Trumps Card Game and Territory Natural Resource Management Endangered Animal Card Species Collection. Lauren was the Grants Officer applying for over $200K in grants and so far securing $40K. Her passion for the environment, and environmental sustainability was displayed through her hard work for the Green Destinations nomination which saw The Red Centre retain its Top 100 Green Destination status for 2018 and receive Silver in the ‘Best of Asia-Pacific Countries’. In February 2019 Lauren relocated to Warracknabeal, Victoria to commence a new role as Tourism Executive Officer for Wimmera Mallee Tourism. This role includes improving the quality and flow of information through the region using digital platforms including websites, augmented reality, digital stories and podcasts.
Lauren is ambitious, mature and hardworking. She is dedicated to improving the visitor economy of small regional towns through agri-tourism. Her interests include: destination management; sustainable tourism and wellness tourism.
