Stuart Lamont

Stuart was elected to the ART Board in 2014 and as CEO of Caravan Industry Association of Australia, he understands the importance of regional Tourism and the impact it has on local communities.  The caravan industry in 2019 was the number one commercial accommodation provider in regional Australia, and generates over 60 million nights and $10 billion of visitor expenditure annually, of which over 90% of activity is in regional and rural Australia.  He is therefore vested in making sure that regional tourism remains front of mind for politicians, and that appropriate infrastructure is in place to get visitors to regional Australia while enhancing their experiences when they arrive.

Stuart remains passionate about the needs of regional tourism and making sure that the issues impacting operators in the regions are heard nationally.  He also recognises the importance of strong representative bodies and has been a conference sponsor of ART as well as a sponsor and advocate for ART’s Emerging Tourism Professionals program.  He is a solid believer that to make positive change you should be actively engaged in the activities of the membership based organisations you are involved with.

In addition to being the Treasurer of ART, Stuart is a Director of Tourism Industry Council Tasmania, and was a former Council member of the National Tourism Alliance.
