About the Council
The Clare & Gilbert Valleys Council is situated about 1 hour north of Adelaide with a population of approximately 9,500 people. It has a variety of towns and villages that offer something for everyone. The principal centre is Clare located within the beautiful Clare Valley, a world-renowned wine and tourism region – http://www.clarevalley.com.au
The region offers a playground of activities and things to see and do including cellar doors, festivals, sporting events, arts and culture, boutique shops and unique heritage. It is also central to the offerings of the Flinders Ranges, Yorke Peninsula and the Outback and continues to attract people seeking a better way of living.
About the role
The Clare & Gilbert Valleys Council is keen to see the development of our district’s cultural assets to entice more tourists to come to our region whilst creating a more liveable and vibrant place for our current and future residents. By creating more interesting places to be, it will entice new residents to our region and align with Council’s objective of growing our population.
The Cultural Tourism Coordinator’s key role is to deliver the actions and outcomes of the inaugural Clare & Gilbert Valleys Cultural Tourism Strategy. The vision of the Strategy is that: “The Clare & Gilbert Valleys Council is a culturally vibrant place. Community, business, the arts and government collaborate to create immersive arts and heritage experiences that celebrate local character and attract visitors to the region.”

About you
To be successful in this role, you will be looking for an exciting challenge, be able to work independently, have strong community engagement skills and experience working within the cultural tourism sector. You must be open to new ideas, be approachable and have a deep understanding of how cultural development can realise beneficial economic outcomes. A highly creative personality and skill set with a commercial mind set will help you achieve the outcomes of this role.

Apart from living in a great place and working with great people, Council will offer an attractive remuneration at Level 5 SA Municipal Salaried Officers Award and Enterprise Agreement. This role is a 3 year fixed term contract with potential to extend. Training will be provided as part of your ongoing professional development. The role will commence on 5 October, 2021.
