ECO Think: Destination Sustainable Tourism Planning hosted by Ecotourism Australia.
Hosted by Ecotourism Australia; Tina Zakonjšek from Slovenia (Slovenia Green and Good Place) will share her insights, expertise and hot tips on what to consider when developing a sustainable tourism plan. Helping you to ensure that sustainability is not just a sticker on the top of the plan but rather engrained throughout with real tangible outcomes.
WHY: A Sustainable Tourism Plan is the number one tool and place to start if you want to ensure your destination’s tourism industry has a positive impact on the people in your community and the environment in which it is dependant.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND: Anyone working in destination management (LTOs, RTOs, councils or consultants) ranging from those who are aspiring ECO Destinations already in the program, right through to destination managers who are taking the first step to ensure tourism in their region is about “Travel for Good”, good for the local community and the environment.
Schedule: Held online via Zoom.
- 5-10mins introduction and welcome
- 10-15mins explanation on criteria 1.7 and 1.8 for ECO Destination Certification
- 45min workshop run by Tina on what to include in a sustainable tourism strategy/plan, and examples from Slovenia.
- 15-20mins Q&A/further contribution and examples from other ECO Destinations

ECO Destination (applicant or certified) FREE – all destination management organisations (e.g. council) responsible for the ECO Destination certification in their region
Ecotourism Australia member FREE – any financial member of Ecotourism AustraliaGeneral Admission $49 (incl. GST)– for anyone not a financial member of Ecotourism Australia
