  Three programs to further support regional businesses and to attract more workers to regional South Australia have expanded. The programs are:

  Regional Jobs Support and Incentive Program – extended to 31 December 2021 for eligible workers with an incentive payment of up to $2,000 for taking up jobs in regional South Australia. For more information on how to apply, visit the Business SA website.

  
  

  Accelerating Regional Employment Program – a pilot initiative for organisations, including businesses, not-for-profit organisations, incorporate associations, South Australian councils and co-operatives. Provides funding of up to $170,000 each for two projects that support skilled migrants and other workers fill critical skills shortages in regional SA for small and medium businesses.   The Regional Workforce and Coordination and Collaboration Program – supports South Australia’s eight Regional Development Australia regions to continue to address regional workforce issues resulting from COVID-19. Regional jobseekers are encouraged to register through the Regional Work SA website.

  COVID-19 Update

  Support for businesses, sole traders and employees:
  A reminder that if your business closed – or experienced a significant reduction in turnover – during the seven day lockdown beginning 20 July 2021, you may be eligible for financial assistance.

  Eligible South Australian SMEs will receive $3000 to help cover ongoing operating costs, such as rent, power bills, supplier and raw material costs and other fees. Small businesses that don’t employ anyone (i.e. sole traders) may be eligible for $1000.

  Applications for the Business Support Grants are now open via the Treasury SA website.

  Businesses that do not fit the criteria for a Business Support Grant (i.e. with an annual turnover of less than $75,000) and employees who have lost work over the past week, are encouraged to explore if a COVID-19 Disaster Payment may be appropriate for them.

  This is a lump-sum payment for people who lost work and income due to a COVID-19 public health order. Applications are made through your myGov account – visit the Services Australia website for more information.
