AUSTRALIAN ACCOMMODATION MONITOR

The Federal Government has announced it will continue providing a national accommodation survey, the Australian Accommodation Monitor (AAM), through a new arrangement with global data analytics provider STR. The AAM will collect detailed information on occupancy rates and business takings from hotels, motels and serviced apartments across metropolitan and regional Australia. Results from the AAM for the 2016–17 financial year will be published in July 2018, with subsequent results published each October. Read more.

The Destination Canberra Conference will be held from Thursday 15 – Friday 16 February 2018 at QT Canberra. This year’s conference theme ‘Customer Centricity’ provides a platform for delegates to hear from thought-provoking industry leaders and connect with like-minded tourism industry members.

The program offers an inspirational line-up of local and national speakers including leading social commentator Bernard Salt; General Motors Holden Australia’s General Manager Marketing Communications, Natalie Davey; Tourism Australia’s Executive General Manager International Phillip Harrison and Lonely Planet’s Director of Sales and Marketing (Asia Pacific) Chris Zeiher. TOURISM CONFERENCE

The 2018 LGNSW Tourism Conference will be held from Monday 12 – Wednesday 14 March in Parkes, NSW. The theme for this years conference is ‘Tourism: It all adds up!’.

Program highlights include a half-day session and workshop for Accredited Visitor Information Centre staff; an address from The Hon Adam Marshall MP, Minister for Tourism and Major Events; a presentation and interactive workshop on running effective marketing campaigns; a panel discussion on agri-tourism and more.

NT BUSINESS EVENTS FUNDING

The NT Government has announced the launch of a Business Events Support Fund in 2018 to allow the NT to more aggressively compete for lucrative business events opportunities. Under the new Fund, business events planners or organisations who decide to stage a business event in the NT will be able to apply for financial assistance of $100 per delegate, up to a maximum of $50,000 per event.
